Alternative Video Hosting Sites

There is an unremitting, ferocious deletion of videos and sometimes complete de-platforming of content creators, when their content offers alternative thinking to, or criticism of, mainstream narratives. Platforms like YouTube (infamously referred to as “ScrewYouTube”) are notorious for taking actions like this, and content creators often complain of the lack of transparency with censorship decisions, guidelines and appeal processes.

Luckily this has lead to a plethora of new video hosting platforms, many of which promise non-interference with publisher content, based on their support for freedom of speech, some of which are listed below. This list will be updated from time to time. Also see Alternative Truth Websites and Blogs.

New Video Hosting Platforms

3Speak.co – https://3speak.co/

3Speak is a place where content creators directly own their onsite assets and their communities. Using blockchain technology, the ownership of these assets and communities are intrinsic to the creator and the user, not 3 Speak. They are therefore transferable to other apps that use blockchain technology. This means that if we do not serve the community and creators in the best possible way, they can take the assets they have generated and move them to another app. The result is that 3Speak is censorship resistant, cannot take your assets away or delete your communities.

FREE SPEECH
Our policy is that the ability to be offensive is the bedrock of Freedom of Speech, and in turn Freedom of Speech protects societies from descending into chaos and civil war. Everyone has the right to their opinions, no matter how offensive some other people may find it (as long as it’s not inciting violence or illegal of course). We especially welcome those talking about cryptocurrency and other emerging technologies which are threats to the establishment. Many of these content creators are being silenced because rich and powerful organisations do not want to be challenged. But we believe in Freedom of choice too!

CITIZEN JOURNALISM
We also encourage citizen journalists to join us too, and post the kind of content which is often ignored. We believe that citizen journalists are the future, and we invite them to come and join our Citizen Journalist Tag and Community.

AltCensored.com – https://altcensored.com/

YouTube limits access to videos that are neither illegal, nor violate their own Terms and Conditions or Community Guidelines.

“Limited state” videos are placed behind a warning message, cannot be shared, monetized or easily found, and have likes, comments, view counts and suggested videos disabled.

YouTube removes videos that violate their ever-changing and arbitrarily enforced Community Guidelines, while Creators increasingly “self-censor” trying to avoid channel strikes and terminations.

altCensored.com is an unbiased community catalog of 90570 limited state, removed, and self-censored YouTube videos across 7180 monitored channels, of which 1200 have been deleted and 2208 are being archived in case of deletion.

Find videos and channels using the search bar. Download videos with “right mouse button click” inside the video window or use the “Download Torrent” link. Channel and Video RSS Feeds (  ) contain torrent links to easily download multiple videos. Embed videos in any website exactly like YouTube.

Email new channel suggestions to altCensored@protonmail.com.

BitChute.com – https://www.bitchute.com/

BitChute is a peer-to-peer content sharing platform. Creators are allowed to post content they produce to the platform, so long as they comply with our policies.

BitTube.video – https://bittube.video/

BitTube as a company offers several products that make up an ecosystem. At the heart of this ecosystem is a blockchain-based technology called AirTime, an ad-free monetisation solution that pays a cryptocurrency (TUBE) based on watch time of any type of content. Payouts are taken from a slowly decreasing block reward, calculated based on a user’s AirTime compared to the grand total AirTime per each block.

BitTube emphasizes free speech, fairness and unrestricted monetization across the board. This platform is the successor to bit.tube, launched in mid 2018, building upon its original peer-to-peer fundamentals with greatly improved monetization options, discoverability, interactivity and engagement features.

BrandNewTube.com – https://brandnewtube.com/

Its SIMPLE…..
Here at Brand New Tube we want our users to enjoy building their own personality up on our platform.
There are so many additions on the way…including live stream but more of that later.
Rest assured however, we will not de-platform you, remove your content simply because it may question a particular narrative or upset someone else’s point of view.
Yes we have guidelines and standards but as certain platforms have shown recently, some individuals having their channel removed from certain platforms…we simply would not do that!
So we say…join our platform and share what you have with the rest of the World.

Lbry.tv – https://lbry.tv/ ==>> moving to Odysee.com – https://odysee.com/

For most users, LBRY will be a place where they can find great videos, music, ebooks, and more: imagine a vast digital library that is available on all of your devices. But under the hood, LBRY is many components working together.

First and foremost, LBRY is a new protocol that allows anyone to build apps that interact with digital content on the LBRY network. Apps built using the protocol allow creators to upload their work to the LBRY network of hosts (like BitTorrent), to set a price per stream or download (like iTunes) or give it away for free (like YouTube without ads). The work you publish could be videos, audio files, documents, or any other type of file.

Traditional video (or other content) sites such as YouTube, Instagram, and Spotify store your uploads on their servers and allow viewers to download them. They also allow creators to make some money through advertising or other mechanisms. However, there are some well-known drawbacks, especially for people whose material is perceived as not being advertiser-friendly.

LBRY aims to be an alternative to these sites, allowing publishers and their fans to interact directly without the risk of demonetization or other meddling.

What makes this all possible is the blockchain technology developed by the creator of Bitcoin.

Do you have to understand any of this to use and enjoy LBRY? No. Does it still matter to users? Yes!

How and why LBRY uses blockchain

Blockchain technology like Bitcoin and LBRY enables people to create databases that no single entity controls.

With Bitcoin, when you send money to someone, your computer broadcasts “hey, the person with this particular secret (a private key) is sending money to that person over there” to the network, and the mining algorithm ensures everyone agrees that indeed, you sent that money, so your balance goes down and the recipient’s goes up. For more on this, check out this great video by LBRYian @3Blue1Brown.

In LBRY, the same mechanism is used to store an index of what content is available and how to download it, as well as financial transactions (such as tips, and purchases of paid content) using the Bitcoin-like currency LBC (LBRY Credits). When a creator publishes something on LBRY, an entry is made on the LBRY blockchain. You can think of it as an announcement: hey everyone, I’ve published this file, here’s some information about it, and instructions for how to download it from the peer-to-peer network.

For the same reasons that nobody can prevent a Bitcoin transaction from taking place, nobody can prevent a transaction (like a publication or a tip) from appearing on the LBRY blockchain. Other sites exist that share their content from a peer-to-peer data network. However, the index of available content is still centralized and can be easily censored.
